Analysis Home Button Fault After Screen Replacement

1. Restore iPhone Software

Restore software on iPhone 7 can sometimes help. At first, back up your phone, reboot your phone into DFU mode and perform a complete restore. In a lot of cases, this will fix your home button wonderfully without any hardware work. 

2. Check iPhone Cable

The iPhone 7 3D touch and home button share a single cable that leads to your phone's interior. But this cable is very fragile. To check it, you have to remove the metal plate behind the screen.

If the cable is damaged, you must change the whole iPhone 7 backlight. In some cases, you can get the backlight from the old screen. Changing the backlight is not expensive and difficult, but the actual repair may be a bit tricky, so it;s better to consider looking for a professional to avoid damaging your cell phone.

How to replace by yourself?

- Use professional iPhone 7 opening tool kit to open screen.

- Use a phone repair heat gun to carefully loosen the adhesive. 

- Slice the adhesive around the top and sides of the backlight.

- Use a thin object to separate the backlight from the iPhone 7 LCD screen and case. Be especially careful not to damage the foil around the 3D touch pad.

- Replace the backlight. 

- Clean the outside of your screen before re-assembling your phone.



3. Turn On Virtual Home Button Function


It's not an ideal solution to really solve the iPhone 7 home button problem but can help you to finish the temporary operation. Just turn on a software home button rather than rely on the physical one that failed. When you turn on assistive Touch, your phone' s operating system will put a virtual home button at the bottom of your screen. It will give off a little buzz when you touch it to simulate the feeling of your physical button.

How to turn on this function?

- Go to Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Assistive Touch. Turn it on.

- Tell Siri: "Turn on Assistive Touch"
